What happened
Foodservice Equipment & Supplies reports that manufacturers increasingly offer remote monitoring and some chains connect equipment data to centralized systems. Consultants interviewed for the article said a universally adopted monitoring platform has not emerged, while subscription cost and equipment compatibility remain practical barriers.
Why it matters to the channel
AI cannot create trustworthy operating insight from disconnected assets with inconsistent identifiers and closed data paths. Manufacturers, reps, dealers, and consultants now have to treat connectivity, data ownership, subscription cost, cybersecurity, and service access as specification questions rather than optional software details.
The next move
Add a connectivity schedule to the next project: asset identifier, protocol, required gateway, data owner, export method, subscription term, offline behavior, service access, and the decision each data point is meant to improve.
